Alexis Vafeades studied architecture at the University of Southern California (USC).

He had been practicing the profession of architect since 1988 and was one of the Directors of the family architecture practice Vafeades and Co. He is registered with the Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ΕΤΕΚ).

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Demetra Holdings PLC and of the Cyprus Joint Construction Contracts Tribunal (CyJCCT). During his previous term as President of the CyJCCT, he contributed to the revision of the existing Structural Contracts enriching them with new texts that serve the new requirements of the construction industry.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Council for the Registration of Building and Civil Engineering Contractors and a member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Architects Association.

He is married to Evangelia and has two children, Maria and Costas.
