The Permanent Members of the UN Security Council, through their Ambassadors to Cyprus, have expressed all their support to the President of the Republic´s efforts to reunify the island and welcomed the progress achieved in the negotiations.
Speaking to the Press, after being received today by President Christofias at the Presidential Palace, British High Commissioner, Mr Peter Millet, speaking on behalf of the other Ambassadors of the P5 said that ´´the President invited us this morning as the Ambassadors of the Permanent Members of the Security Council. He gave us a very good briefing on the progress in the negotiations and on the Secretary General´s visit.
We welcomed his briefing and we welcomed the progress that has been made in the negotiations and we, as P5, gave the President all our support in his efforts to reunify the island and also, as P5, the support we have for the United Nations in facilitating that process.´´
